Coastal Carolina University develops its own strategy of fighting plagiarism and discarding companies proposing such services. Recently Kimbel Library developed a new page of the website, which should be helpful for students and teachers around the globe. Specialists have created a page called Presentation on the Paper Mills and it has been there since 1999. Now this powerful source contains 250 paper mill sites that undermine the educational strategies of tutors and the process in general.
Plagiarism is a burning problem that requires resolute action to solve it. Tutors, officials and staff members of Coastal California University took the initiative in their own hands and started their campaign. It is essential that tutors should be aware where some of the assignments may come from. A student must be aware that if he/she uses the services of any of the websites given on the web page, they will be punished according to the Code of Conduct of the University, says one of the co-workers of the library.
It happens so that tutors are unaware of the possibilities of students, created by technological innovations; therefore the mission of University staff is to keep the tutors informed about the possible ways to implement academic dishonesty for own gain and higher grade. The presentation page that is updated every six month is indeed a good source of information for tutors and a warning for students that would risk their grade to have more free time.
This page was designed as a part of Teaching Effectiveness Seminar and had a positive effect: plagiarism rate fell to 1.5% and continues to fall. Possibilities for plagiarism are numerous and the task of any tutor is not to cut a student and give the according recommendation, but to show that an assignment is not just a part of the grade, but a chance to improve, get to know more, get new skills that will be essential in the future. Own creations are much more precious that any other, for you put in time, effort and get pleasure from the process itself. If there is a problem there is a solution, even if it seems hard to accomplish.
